Employer Nomination Scheme visa - subclass 186

This visa allows overseas skilled workers to live and work in Australia permanently when nominated by the eligible employer. However, there is a condition that the employer is not able to find the right talent in Australia on the nominated positions. Also, the state grants 5 points to the nominated overseas applicants.

Subclass 186 – Direct Entry Stream

This visa stream allows eligible employers to sponsor and nominate the overseas skilled workers to live and work in Australia permanently.

Processing Time for Direct Entry Stream – Subclass 186: 10 – 14 Months

Eligibility

Subclass 186 – Labor Agreement Stream

The Business Innovation and Investment visa (Subclass 188) is a temporary visa for applicants who want to own or manage a new or existing business in Australia.

It also serves as a first step towards being eligible for a permanent Business Skills visa.

This visa allows overseas people with the potential to establish a new business or operate an existing business to live temporarily in Australia. Therefore, this visa holder can stay in Australia temporarily. But they have a pathway to permanent residency through Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa – subclass 888.

Subclass 188 – Business Innovation Stream

A temporary visa that allows overseas people who are nominated by the state or territory government to establish a new or operate an existing business in Australia.

Processing Time for Training Visa – Subclass 407: 70 Days – 4 Months

407 visa or Training visa is for people who are coming to Australia in order to participate in occupational training or professional development.

The Training Subclass 407 Visa is a short stay visa for people to undergo occupational training or professional development in Australia. The Training visa allows people to undertake occupational training in Australia to meet occupational registration or licensing requirements; to enhance skills in their occupation; or for capacity building overseas.

The visa is generally valid for stay in Australia for 2 years. The visa is subject to condition 8102 which forbids work apart from the training specified in the visa application. You must also maintain your health insurance whilst in Australia.

Holding 407 visa will allow you to stay for a period of up to two years in Australia
This is for people with recent experience and their occupation is in the list of eligible skilled occupations

This includes structured workplace-based training specifically tailored and timed according to the training needs of the nominated person. However, the purpose of this training is to improve your skills for your eligible occupation.
Occupational Training for Capacity Building Overseas
This includes:
- Overseas Qualification
  Structured workplace-based training specifically tailored according to the training needs of nominated students who are:
  - Currently enrolled in a foreign educational institution
  - Need the training to complete their degree, research, or practical training.
- Government Support
  Structured workplace-based training with the support of the Australian government agency or government agency of the home country.
- Professional DevelopmentStructured training for employers to train their employees for the growth of the organization.

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa - subclass 187

The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (subclass 187) is for skilled workers who want to work in regional Australia. This visa involves a two-step process, firstly, nomination by an approved Australian employer and then an application under the nominated stream. It is part of the Permanent Employer Sponsored Visa program. This vacancy need to be available at least for two years. RSMS covers all the regional areas which do not include Brisbane, Newcastle, Wollongong, Gold Coast, Melbourne or Sydney.

Applicants must be under 50 years of age and meet the English language requirements. You may be in or out of Australia to apply for this visa.

Subclass 187 visa allows overseas skilled workers who are nominated by the eligible employer to work in regional areas of Australia on a condition that the employer is not able to find the right talent in Australia on the nominated positions. State grants 10 points to the nominated overseas applicants.

Subclass 187 – Direct Entry Stream

This visa stream permits overseas skilled workers who are nominated by the eligible employer to live and work in Australia permanently.

Temporary Skill Shortage visa - subclass 482

This visa allows the eligible employers to sponsor the overseas skilled workers to live and work in Australia temporarily on a condition that if the employer is not able to find the right talent in Australia on the nominated positions.

186 visa or Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) is a permanent visa for skilled workers who want to work in Australia; there are two different ways to apply for this visa:

The Temporary Residence Transition stream is for subclass 482 visa holders who have worked for three years, while holding a subclass 482 visa, in the same occupation with their nominating employer (who is not subject to a labour agreement and who has lodged a valid nomination with us under the Temporary Residence Transition stream), who wants to offer them a permanent position in that occupation.

The Direct Entry stream is for:

people who have been nominated by their employer under the Direct Entry stream and occupation is listed on MLTSSL.
people who have never, or only briefly, worked in Australia, or
temporary residents who do not qualify for the Temporary Residence Transition stream.

In case you do not have an employer to nominate you, you can submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect. This is possible to do in or outside Australia.

Subclass 482 – Short-Term Stream

This visa stream allows eligible employers to sponsor and nominate the overseas skilled workers with a relevant occupation listed on Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). The nominated employee can live and work in Australia for up to 2 years or up to 4 years if the International Trade Obligation applies.

Processing Time for Short-Term Stream – Subclass 482: 51 Days – 3 Months

Eligibility

Applicant must:

Have required skills, qualifications and at least 2 years of relevant work experience
Be nominated by Standard Business Sponsor for the occupation listed on STSOL
Have positive skill assessment assessed by relevant assessing authorities

Subclass 482 – Medium-Term Stream

Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa - subclass 491

491 visa or Skilled Regional Visa is for people who want to work and live in specified regional areas in Australia for four years.

To be able to apply for this visa you need to be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government then submit an expression of interest (EOI) and then wait to be invited through SkillSelect to apply.

The Australian government is especially emphasizing on its regional areas by creating more prospects related to work in these regional areas. This is expected to bring economic growth for regional Australia. In this very context, a new visa subclass 491 is introduced.

Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa has 2 applicants:

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa subclass 491- Main Applicant

This visa is allows the skilled individuals to live and work in regional areas of Australia for a span of 5 years

Australian government is emphasizing on the development of their regional areas by creating new work

The duration of the skilled work regional visa is 5 years. One can apply for Permanent visa subclass 191 after 3 years if eligible.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa subclass 491 – Subsequent Entrant

This visa allows the member of the family unit of a person who holds work regional visa subclass 491 to come and live in regional Australia until the visa that the main applicant holds ends.

Come and live in Australia until the visa of the main applicant ends.
One can live, work and study in Australian regional area
The subsequent entrant can travel from Australia and to Australia whenever he/she wants.

485 visa or Temporary Graduate visa is for international students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution.

It lets you stay in Australia temporarily after you have finished your studies.

There are two streams:

For international students with an eligible qualification who graduate with skills and qualifications that relate to an occupation on the list of eligible skilled occupations. This visa will give you 18 months of work visa from the date of granted.

Applicant must:

Be under the age of 50
Hold the student visa
Have completed the vocational course of study registered on CRICOS
Have skills and qualifications relevant to the occupation listed on skilled occupation list
Have a positive assessment of the relevant skills
Have a passport from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, or the Republic of Ireland, or must prove English proficiency by giving one of the following tests to secure the required score:
- IELTS
- TOEFL
- Cambridge Advanced English
- PTE Academic
- Occupational English Test
Hold health cover from an approved Australian health insurance provider when applying for the visa

Post-Study Work stream

Processing Time for Post-Study Work stream – Subclass 485: 4 – 5 Months

For international students who graduate with a higher education degree from an Australian education provider, regardless of their field of study. This visa will give you 24 months of work visa from the date of granted.

Hold the student visa granted on or after November 5, 2011
Have completed the higher education course of study registered on CRICOS
